Westfield Woman’s Club Dazzles with a Variety of Activities

submitted by Sandi Gil

The Westfield Woman’s Club will begin its fall season with its Open House Celebration.  This is a free event and open to the public.  This year, the event will be held on Thursday, September 10, from 4-6 PM.  Featured entertainment in the theatre will be a wonderful presentation by Dr. Bob Brown who will speak about the history of the making of the club during the Roaring Twenties.  Guests may also enjoy free refreshments, tour the building, meet club groups and view their activities in the lower Community Room.  There will be giveaways from the clubs, too.  Meet some of these talented ladies. You will be warmly welcomed.  You may RSVP on the www.westfieldwomansclub.com website by September 3.

Every second Wednesday of the month at 6 PM is Bunco Night at the club.  You need not know how to play the game.  This event is for both males and females.  A $10 donation is requested for refreshments and prizes.  The next Bunco is Wednesday, September 9.

Through a grant made possible by the Mass Cultural Council and the Westfield Cultural Council an evening of history, music and dance, taking you back to the Roaring Twenties by the Small Planet Dancers, will be featured in the theatre on Saturday, September 12 at 7PM.  Tickets may be purchased by contacting the website listed above. This presentation is part of the Club’s ‘Sounds of Westfield’ series, also supported by Mass Cultural.

On its Gala Weekend, the Westfield Woman’s Club will feature Gary McKinstry , an international psychic entertainer, similar to what you have seen on America’s Got Talent.  There will only be one show.  This show will prove to be a sell out and tickets are encouraged to be purchased early if you do not want to miss this show.  McKinstry has been entertaining the public for over 30 years.  The club is delighted to have him come to Westfield! The show will be Friday, October 2, at 7 PM.  Tickets are $40.  Doors will open at 6:30 PM.

The second event of the Gala Weekend will be the Roaring Centennial Gala, an immersive celebration of our Clubhouse’s 100th birthday, with a Roaring Twenties theme.  This unique event will feature food and drink, music, dancing and live entertainment on Saturday, October 3 from 7-10 PM . Costumes are encouraged but not required. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Woman’s Club website. An Early Bird ticket special runs now through September 1st.

Do not forget Bunco on the second Wednesday in October.

On Monday October 27, will be a Card and Game Party sponsored by the club’s Garden Club.  Beginning at noon, the event will feature a bountiful buffet lunch, complete with beverage and desserts for $15.  There will be raffle prizes too. The event runs from noon until 3 PM Bring your own game.  Your prior registration is requested by contacting the website for the purpose of food planning.  However, you pay at the door the day of the event.

With this varied array of events coming to Westfield , please know that they will all take place at 28 Court Street , Westfield, MA and there is a lift for handicapped individuals.
